Doctoral Study Income

Students in the 1st and 2nd academic year

  • The doctoral study income ensures that doctoral students receive a minimum income to cover the costs associated with their studies and creative research activity.

  • The minimum amount of doctoral study income is 1.2 times the minimum wage. For the academic year 2025/2026, the amount is CZK 24 960 per month.
  • Doctoral study income includes the agreed salary from an employment relationship for creative research activity at Masaryk University. It also includes salary from external employers, provided that it is for creative work and the faculty has a cooperation agreement with the external employerIn the application for the doctoral scholarship, the student declares all such income from these employment relationships and is responsible for its truthfulness and completeness. The student must promptly report any changes that may affect the amount of the doctoral scholarship. Agreements to complete a job (DPP – Dohoda o provedení práce), agreements to perform work (DPČ – Dohoda o pracovní činnosti), rewards, compensations, and other types of scholarships are not included in doctoral study income.
  • Both new and current students enrolled in full-time (prezenční) doctoral study within the standard period of study (i.e., up to and including the 8th semester) who meet the conditions for the award are entitled to the doctoral scholarship.
  • The minimum amount of the doctoral scholarship for the academic year 2025/2026 is CZK 12 000 per month. The doctoral scholarship is calculated as a supplement up to the guaranteed amount of doctoral study income (after deducting 2/3 of the gross declared salary) and, in no case, falls below CZK 12 000. The scholarship is paid retroactively, in the same way as salary (for example, the scholarship for September is paid in October).
  • Submitting an application is not mandatory, but it is the student’s right and a necessary condition for granting the doctoral scholarship. A student may request the doctoral scholarship retroactively for up to one month, provided that the conditions were met. The doctoral scholarship is granted for one academic year; a new application must be submitted for each subsequent academic year.
